LA Smarts/LA Genius/SPIN

LA Smarts/LA Genius/SPIN - A vehicle for notification of funding opportunities and/or funding searches, these are national programs coordinated by InfoEd, Inc. The Board of Regents funded the program for Louisiana universities, so it's free for UL Lafayette faculty and staff under the titles LaGENIUS and LaSMARTS.

LaGenius
Louisiana Global Expertise Network for Industry, Universities, and Scholars (LaGENIUS) is a database of university faculty expertise to which you can add your own personal profile. Freely open to search by universities, local government, and businesses, LaGENIUS is perfectly suited to searching for collaborators in your field or for advertising your own interests and expertise.

LaSMARTS
Louisiana SPIN Matching And Researcher Transmittal System (LaSMARTS) is an e-mail search and alert system that automatically e-mails you relevant funding opportunities as they are published. You first create a personal profile describing your research interests and expertise. This profile is then automatically run daily against the comprehensive SPIN (Sponsored Programs Information Network) database of federal and foundation funding opportunities. "Hits" to the database in the form of detailed descriptions of funding programs that match your profile are automatically e-mailed to you for review.

SPIN
Sponsored Programs and Information Network (SPIN) lets you perform a search for research funding in your fielf by using keywords that identify particular areas of interest and expertise. Access to the SPIN database is based on UL Lafayette's unique block of IP addresses, with no passwords to remember, and the database is updated daily instead of monthly.

Getting Started

To utilize the service, a UL Lafayette faculty or staff member must create a profile at:
http://www.infoed.org/genius_live/create_new.asp

After registration, please complete the information categories "General" and "Keywords". Through this process, you can create a LaGENIUS or LaSMARTS profile, or both. You can also elect whethere or not to recieve funding opportunities via email through the service.
